Click for Vic's complete bio Gelsomino, Vic

Vic Gelsomino | Age 31 | PFIT certification | Always involved in sports as a child, Vic played baseball, soccer and basketball. It wasn't until he got his first weight set at the age of 13 that he really fell in love with exercise. Armed with the Arnold Bodybuilding Encyclopedia, he still remembers the pump, the soreness and the exhilaration of those early workouts. Needless to say, he was hooked. Vic explored the disciplines of Tae Kwon Do, Jujitsu, and Thai boxing during these years, and then, at the age of eighteen, got the opportunity of a lifetime – traveling to China to study Kung Fu. Returning to the US a changed man, he was full of excitement for what was next in his journey of health and fitness. But life, as is often the case, had other plans for Vic. After six months of excruciating pain and the loss of 40 pounds, he was finally with Fibromyalgia, which affects the muscles and central nervous system. Shaken but not defeated, Vic was transformed from an athlete into a young man who could hardly walk. If he couldn't run, he would walk; and if he couldn't walk, he would crawl. Starting from square one and focusing on the basics of stretching, light weight and more reps, he began an uphill battle back to health without the aid of traditional pain medication. Soon after, he considered nursing school as a way to help others facing similar problems. After much debate it became clear that his time would be better spent on the preventive side of medicine. He attended the Wellness Center at HBU and Memorial Herman hospital and acquired a Professional Fitness Instructors Training (PFIT) certification. After 10 years of pain and struggle, Vic took what was a impediment and turn it into steppingstone to help others realize their goals.

Certifications: NASM Certified Personal Trainer RYI-200 Registered Yoga Instructor Education: MBA University of Houston 2009 Advanced Coursework: Anatomy & Physiology, Human Biochemistry, Spinal Biomechanics, Cellular and Respiratory Physiology (The Texas Chiropractic College) It is accurate to say that in 2010 Rick Pagel spent more time in the cadaver lab of the Texas Chiropractic College each morning and afternoon than most Houstonians spend daily stuck in traffic on 59 North during rush-hour. More than just regurgitating scientific names of bones, muscles, and nerves, Rick found the more time he spent with his 'forever-resting' companions the more precise his findings were on joint and musculoskeletal motion; far more than any book or slideshow could reveal to the naked eye. Rick's journey into personal training began from his background in yoga, cellular physiology, and spinal biomechanics. He firmly believes that one's true age is not indicated by calendar years, but quantified by one's range of motion, structural integrity of the spine, and joint stability. With a strong foundation in arthrokinematics, Rick approaches personal training with workouts that not only challenge muscular endurance, but also focus the body in proprioceptively-rich environments.

Click for Eric's complete bio Turner, Eric

Certifications: NASM- CPT | Eric Turner joined the Fit team in late 2010 after moving to Houston from Salt Lake City, UT. Having grown up in the mountains of Utah, he spent a lot of time outdoors and has always made a priority of staying physically fit. A classically trained opera singer, he originally went to school with the plans of becoming a high school choir teacher. After finishing school, he became involved in business management and worked his way up the corporate ladder to become a senior district manager for Abercrombie & Fitch and several other retail companies. He left business management, however, to follow his love of fitness. Modeling underwear at a photoshoot, he was asked about his diet and workout routine, and Eric realized he had more to offer the world than instructing teenagers on folding clothes. He decided to take his career in a different direction and became a certified trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Training has become a way for Eric to share his love of fitness, while helping people to improve their lives. You'll rarely see him training without a smile on his face, because of his love for what he does. He's proud of all his clients who have hit their fitness and health goals, and he is always looking for the next person to help inspire, motivate, and put them on the path to achieving their goals. In his free time, Eric enjoys music, traveling, snowboarding, fly fishing, hiking, rock climbing, socializing with his friends, and playing with his dogs.
